Trickski // Unreality (Remixed) [Suol]

A selection of remixes from the acclaimed and much-loved Trickski album and, unlike your ex from a few years back, these are well worth the revisit.

“Beginning” is a beguiling track and gets a knock on the door from Aliwal North who bring a dubby sensibility that would take it out to Deep Space on a Monday night I am certain. Cocolores get down and, well, filthy with their out-take. All low slung bass and slapping handclaps leading us into a haunting sub-acid moment of guilty, boogie-based pleasure. Mark E brings some striding pace to the room with a wash of sound that develops in to an edgy techno. Superb.

“Can’t Get Through” gets a Club Mix from the host himself and it’s a welcome bassbin bothering slab of house that recalls his earlier releases on Raw Fusion like “Salsa 313”. Loose bass, slammin’ drums and wobbly synth breaks. Would love to hear him rework some old D Train or similar on this form.
Finally, the much-rated Irfan Khan from Manchester graces the new version of “Love’s a Beat” and Fritz Zander brings summer to the steady groove in a manner that the North Atlantic drift has patently failed to do to the British summer this year.

Great package, choc full of great tracks that will still be on your menu in a year or two. Now where is my little black book?
