SHA News // Inner Circles Vol.2 [Lower East]

On 20th August, London’s Lower East drops it’s second various artists showcase, Inner Circles Vol.2, this August with a two part package that features some of the finest emerging names in modern house music.

Here, with Part One, we’re treated to 5 tracks from Alexis Raphael, Cozzy D, Michael Jansons, Lee Brinx and Johnny Mikes that take in a vibrant mixture of vibes from lo-slung house to stepping garage.

The Michael Janson’s smooth, deep house with a twist of 80’s R&B funk, ‘I Know Your Feeling Ok’ opens the Part One of Inner Circles Vol 2 with typical Lower East class while label co-owner Cozzy D immediately flips the script with the brilliant, broken Garage of ‘Bullseye’.

Lee Brinx, another of the label’s helmsmen, indulges his moody, creeping side with the pulsating ‘Stamina’ next and displays why the likes of Clive Henry, Droog and James Teej have become fans of his freaky sound.

Johnny Mikes and Alexis Raphael close Part One with ‘Crowd Control’ and ‘Beverly Hills’ respectively. While Mikes drops oddball, skipping, 808 driven future-retro tones Raphael turns in the sort of fat bottomed groove that has made him a Hot Creations poster-boy in the past year.

Part 1 Tracklist:
1: Michael Jansons – ‘I Know You’re Feeling Ok’
2: Cozzy D – ‘Bullseye’
3: Lee Brinx – ‘Stamina’
4: Johnny Mikes – ‘Crowd Control’
5: Alexis Raphael – ‘Beverly Hills’

Part Two of Inner Circles Vol.2 carries on neatly where Part One leaves off, with a selection of exemplary bastardised house. First up is Rebel who follows up strong output for Digital Delight with the tripped-out yet heavy ‘In This Life’.

Pets Recordings artists, Polish duo Vidadrina drop ‘Queens’ next and slow the pace with a densely musical and brilliantly fluid mix of organic and electronic. Alive’s Tom Budden, an artist who’s DIY ethic has made him a constant name to watch, drops one of his most accomplished tracks yet in ‘All I Know’ – a superb slice of sensually vocal’d house.

Le Vinyl & Gelabert deliver the penultimate shot for ‘Inner Circles Vol 2., Part Two’ and ‘Make It’, featuring the vocals of Sacha D Flame is an outright anthem contender that melds old school rhythms with some weighty synth work.

Finally, Subsonik delivers ‘Find On Me’, an R&B tinged cut as infectious as it is well produced – a fitting closer to a brilliant pair of EPs.

Part 2 Tracklist:
1. Rebel – ‘In This Life’
2. Viadrina – ‘Queens’
3. Tom Budden – ‘All I Know’
4. Le Vinyl & Gelabert Feat. Sacha D Flame – ‘Make It’
5. Subsonik – ‘Find On Me’
