Recondite // DRGN [Hotflush]

Have you heard the Recondite remixes of The Hope? Have you heard the Recondite remixes of The Hope? – I would not be surprised if this was pretty much one of the most repeated phrases on your social networking website of choice in recent months. This latest Hotflush release sees the remixer become the main attraction, so does Recondite maintain momentum under his own speed?
Leading off with the vowelless DRGN, we see Recondite in a restrained and menacing mood. An Untold style bassline fades then grows amongst static crackles and the bare minimum of bass, exceptionally ghostly material. Wist 365 is equally chilling thanks to the distant tumble of wind chimes and frozen bell arpeggios, but the mood is more of wonder and mystery. Neither track goes off on an atomic scale, but it is this measured approach that crafts an atmosphere on a higher plane than a relentless assault of piercing wind rushes can every achieve. Momentum sustained.
