Master H // Feel Tha Heat [Soma]

Frenchman Master H has delivered some incredible and characterful tracks for Soma over the years, this being no exception.
Piano driven, with a strong riff and anthemic feel, it’s got enough quirk and interest to hold the deeper floor as well. The Dub Mix uses a more organic vibe, literally with a New Jersey style approach making it soulful in the extreme…although the techno aspect is never far away as the dark elements of the track pay a visit. Excellent. And there is even a Re-Dub, which completely strips out the melodic parts until later in the mix, fixing its sights firmly on this darker side.
Burnski (aka James Burnham) has been delivering the goods on labels like Real Tone and Poker Flat in recent years and the man from England’s north east takes us directly to Berlin with this piece of modern electronic dance. The grooves sound like a track lost in the Warp library early days. Plinky, plonky and impossibly funkasized. This underpins a synthy vision that soundscapes and translates the original into something firmly main room as it develops over seven mesmerising minutes.
A fabulous release that demonstrates the ability of Master H to refer to the past, keep it simple and look ahead.
