Hot! Los Amigos Invisibles & Dimitri From Paris // Glad to Know You [Gomma]

Venezualan Grammy Award-winners Los Amigos Invisibles have previously released some gems in cahoots with Louie Vega and it’s great to hear them again. This is a fine track that, along with the recent Sunburst Band album on Z Records reminds us that soulful house is still around.

Now working with Dimitri From Paris, we know there will be a good vibe in store and this has an authentic boogie feel in a manner that recalls some Idjut Boys material. “Glad to Know You” was a hit for Ian Dury collaborator Chaz Jankel in 1982 and the guys have given it a respectful revisit. Lots of delayed drums, warm bass and swirling effects permeate to give the catchy song a real extended “live” feel. It comes resplendent with additional instrumental version also.

Ray Mang seems the perfect choice to retouch this one and his Flying Dub adds some pump and circumstance to good effect. His dubby ethos brings an FK-on-Prelude groove before breaking into a piano break that is more musical than most in the genre.

Really strong release and one that will add flavour and colour to the most unhappening dancefloor or lighten up any bar. We look forward to an album on Gomma in the not too distant future?
