Fran Von Vie // Albatros [99percent]
99percent Recordings are back, the robin hood-esque label that gives their profits back to charity and recently gave you a free EP to download. Here we have the follow up to recent Mehmet Akar track Your Breath where we find one of the remixer’s now become producer as Fran Von Vie serves up Albatros, well seasoned.
The original is a slow builder. Dark, analogue, underground beats dance gradually until the killer hook is unleashed midway. A hint of sadness in the final, extended break adds further emotion to the overall sound.
Another legend has been drafted in for the remix here, none other than electronic music pioneer, and someone we’ve chatted too before, Oliver Lieb. He presents a stripped back take, avoiding the warmth of the original, instead opting for an industrial sound. The build is again paced and the killer hook returns midway.
This pack has been getting mad support from heavyweights like Hernan Cattaneo, Nick Warren, Jimmy Van M and Oliver Schories so perhaps it’s time you joined them.
