Denis Yashin // Easy Like You Do EP [Schonbrunner Perlen]

Struggling to drag myself out of the post holiday blues I was perhaps not in the best mind to review an EP. I’m pleased to report however that this third release from the Schonbrunner Perlen label has brought the sunshine out again with a nice mix of tracks ranging from beached out house to synth stabbed breaks.

The Echonomists Re-Adeventure mix of Easy Like You Do will appeal to all househeads as it builds with a lovely groove throughout. Inside and Out gives us a great chilled vibe riding along on a minimal but very effective basssline with Ken Hayakawa’s mix relying more on flowing synths but with an equally delightful result. We take an unexpected turn with the Zanshin Circumstantial relocation mix with solid breaks and the aforementioned stabby synths, while not being a genre I dive into often I enjoyed the production on this. My only gripe, and its a small one, is with Try To Find The Way, which for me doesn’t do enough with some good elements although this may just reflect the quality of the other tracks on the EP.

My pick of the EP, and the track that put a smile back on my face, was the original mix of Easy Like You Do. The chunky beat and jacking percussion had me rocking from the start with the synth first dragging and then driving the tune on. The lazy vocal flows throughout, filtering back in with the break which should get any dancefloor groovin.
