Cipy // Your Fifteen Sexy Heel [Kindisch]
It’s some nicely produced and well worked dance-floor musings from Kindisch. Although Cipy is more reknowned for techno, it’s great to hear those elements restrained over this three tracker creating a deep houser of some accord.
Wheres my Swiss Cat? opens things nicely with subbed basses, rattlesnake fills and piano motifs throughout which double nicely towards the end. There’s echos of Leftfield in the synth wobbles too, some wonked vocal work and a lovingly deft touch through this deep late night/early morning excursion – which is a feature throughout the EP.
Too Many Wishlist seems to start with the Sabre of Paradise being dragged from the music of summers past. Featuring a doubled bass, panned synths and an almost lethargic and afro-feel, this is one to take it easy with, despite the tempo. It’ll keep heads down for the right djs and crowds.
Your Fifteen Sexy Heel is rightly the title track being the most adventurous of the three, whilst maintaining a cool and deep quality to it. I love the giddy, repeating chime motif throughout which is counterpointed on the 8th bar to keep thing things locked in perfectly. This allows the other fills to sit prettily throughout the mix – whether it’s the snare fills or subtle female and male vocals that glide over, there’s lots of care, detail and love that has gone into this one which makes it the pick of the bunch.
Nice stuff from Cipy, with the title track being something of a gem – lovely.
