Boddika & Joy Orbison // Swims [Swamp81]

Back when I was a yoof I could barely scrape the cash together to get to a decent record shop, let alone fork out for stacks of expensively priced, shrinkwrapped US imports. So it is with no small amount of joy that I get a chance to relive one of those tracks that slipped through the net; Size Queen’s Walk on the pre-Twisted Tribal Recordings.

In fact there is a large amount of joy on this record as it is Joy Orbison and Boddika that has seen fit to bring the walk for me, walk for me, walk for me command up to date. Of course when I say up to date in this musical climate, this of course translates into sounding more retro than the pre-y2k original.

There are two flavours of Swim to indulge in, both have the same raw, acidic nature at the core and an ever so slightly Nitzer Ebb industrialism to the beats. The alternate mix differs ever so slightly by adding in some light chords over the breakdown, meaning all you have to do is ask the question; breakdown with light or breakdown with dark?

Make your choice, play the track.
