Blond:ish // In My Head [Get Physical]
London based Canadian duo Blond:ish have been making all the right noises of late. Their productions can be found on influential labels such as Kompakt, Noir Music, Monique Musique and now they make their way into the Get Physical roster. The girls’ debut EP will get its full release on the label in July but for now, their track In My Head finds a home in the revered Full Body Workout compilation series as episode 9 hits the stores.
In My Head is a jaunty groove which has undoubtedly had curious heads turning at Sonar last week. The track starts with an eerie hollow synth panning around with the occasional tom, snare and glitchy fx shots ever present. The main, ghostly vocal signifies the fun is to begin and in comes the bassline with its merry swagger to take centre stage. Further keys are introduced, rising and dipping aside the bass to hook the listener and leaves a track equally adept for playing at 4am in a dark, underground venue or at 5pm at a sunny pool party.
On this form the debut Get Physical EP cannot come soon enough but meanwhile I would also recommend checking out the beautiful Blond:ish remix of Tomas Barfod // Till We Die, which is set to be released this summer.
