Betoko // Before I Lose Control [Supernature]

After successful releases on the iconic Get Physical, Dynamic and Fabric Sunday’s own Wet Your Self imprints, Mexican Betoko is back with a new track and plentiful remix pack on Audiofly’s Supernature label.
I turn on Before I Lose Control and instantly my brain is reminded of Cut Copy’s Future Unlimited (which in turn always makes me think about the Casualty theme song) In truth it is merely the strange way my mind associates music but there is similarities between the artists, gentle rising keys, simple yet throbbing basslines and quirky vox. The track sits well amongst a world drowned in deep house and the tight production should be enough to keep it’s head above the parapet. Testament to that being it has already featured on Ben Watt’s Radio 6mix show
We also have a load of remixes to accompany. Argentine Santos Resiak introduces his new band project Barrio Weedwagon with their Dark and Long take with a sound which perhaps further qualifies my earlier Cut Copy comparison. Resiak then provides his own solo working really upping the ante with 90s house flavour piano chords and bassline.
Miss Jools then steps in to dub the track out with dark undertones that is sure to excite her own Mobilee fans and Visionquest-ers in equal measure.
