Allesandro Stefanio aka Buck // The JVSB EP [OUT-ER]

Allessandro Stefanio’s EP has a remarkably fresh cut and paste feel to it. If you were to visualise the sequencer of each track in your mind, you could easily imagine each channel sitting like steps as each element is dropped in with mathematical precision. This translates to an experience where tracks start off initially dry, but, thanks to some deft touches from Allessandro, branch out into fuller experiences as you journey along.
The snappily titled, and one I’m sure you’ll have no issues with name dropping to your friends, STFLSN78MO wraps you up in dub techno echoes, while JREVENGE cleverly drops in an ancient Stonebridge sample from the early nineties—Donna Giles – And I’m Telling You I’m Not Going (Stonebridge Poppers Full Delight Mix) for those who like to trainspot—to great effect over a chord sequence constructed purely from icicles, and then, my personal favourite, A New Session has an infectious brassy technoid loop as its main hook.
Of all of these it is 19878## that doesn’t grab, perhaps as it feels like its acidic burble is unable to break through and flourish like the other tracks on show. This aside, you are still left with a collection of emotive and raw Techno that is well worth casting an ear over.
