AKRA // AKRASounds Vol 1 [Teng]

Teng is a brand new London based label, and there is nothing more pleasing than when a label sets off putting its best foot forward. This best foot appears in the form of AKRA, who has produced two tracks of delectable electronic deepness.
The electronics have a pleasingly analogue squelch to them; Black Sands’ saturated bass overtakes the frequencies on an aquatic dub groove, while a mournful lead plays the sort of melodies that would have been heard at the beaches of the radiation battered Mars. This space Techno carries on through into Dust To Dirt, which bubbles away like boiling mercury, building with intensity before being taken off the heat to regroup for one more attack. Neville Watson provides the sole remix on the package, and keeps things more earthy on his remix of Dust To Dirt, retaining the fluttering synths but driving forward with crisp House vibes in a more direct interpretation, evoking memories of Larry Heard tracks of yore.
If this is any indication of what is to come from Teng in the future, its a future worth being a part of.
